What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to “do good”. This was an international initiative that was started to counteract the energy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Over several years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. One of the very best ways to get involved is in your own community…*cough*…*cough*…Cleveland!
“In Africa there is a concept known as ‘ubuntu’ – the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievement of others.”
– Nelson Mandela
Cleveland continues to take great strides with Giving Tuesday, a holiday that has continuously snowballed every year into a bigger and better snowman. It is another year to get out and give back! There is nothing greater to focus in this world than understanding just how much we have to be grateful for in our lives. Let’s come together this Giving Tuesday – December 3rd – and help our beautiful community that supports Cleveland.
