Check out our conversation with Kimberley Malone of Kimberley Rose Luxuries. Kim hand-makes natural skincare products, often with ingredients from her own garden!
How would you explain your business in just a couple sentences?
Kimberley Rose Handcrafted Luxuries is a trusted source for homemade, natural skincare products. Each recipe is designed to pamper with purpose.
What's the story behind how you got into your profession?
It started from my own sensitivity to chemicals. I was allergic to everything so I started making things for myself and then it expanded to my family. It’s kind of like a hobby turned business out of necessity.
What might we be surprised to learn about your business?
Some may be surprised to know that the name Kimberley Rose is my first and middle name. The middle name “Rose” is shared with almost every woman in my family from my great grandmother down to my daughter.
What do you love about the Cleveland area?
Cleveland is the city I was born and raised in. Even after visiting other places, I’m very happy to return to the unique neighborhoods of Cleveland that I call home!
And you’re in business with some of your family members?
That’s developing now, it’s kind of new. My daughter has been a massage therapist for about 8 years now and she owns “Massage by Kamry.” We work out of our home but we do have a little retail space in our home studio in South Euclid. She does full body therapeutic massage and when we go to craft shows she does chair massages right beside me, using my herbal oils. The one people really love is an arnica oil that offers pain relief. When she does her lymphatic drainage massage she uses that oil which I slowly infuse from dried arnica. And the newest part is my sister, who has a personal training business called “RoseFit.”
Is there a full product list of everything you sell on your website?
I have five main categories of products but soap is the main thing. I make 21 different kinds of soap, and I also have body creams, candles, lip balms, and bath bombs.
What would you say the biggest benefit is for your customers?
I like that a community is able to be built up by people giving back to each other and sharing. Why outsource or go across the world when someone right up the street has a product that they put a lot of energy into and we can share and help each other?
Sounds like you kind of inspired some people in your family to follow in your footsteps.
