Spotlight: Larchmere Fire Works
Join us as we talk with Tina Haldiman, owner of Larchmere Fire Works, this truly unique local business here in Cleveland, Ohio.
How did your business get its start?
We started glass-blowing at the Glass Bubble Project on the West Side. After years of commuting across the River, we decided to start our own shop on the East Side that would also include blacksmithing classes. This was our passion – why not follow our hearts and make a business out of it!
Best of Cleveland: Blacksmithing Class
Congratulations to Larchmere Fire Works for being selected as Cleveland’s best! Check out their shout out on the Cleveland Magazine!
“Larchmere Fire Works is the hottest DIY class in Cleveland’s hottest neighborhood”
How long have you been in business?
We have now been in business for three years.
What do you like most about your job?
We live in above our studio, so the commute is amazing – best in town! We get to share our crafts with people who are excited to try something new. We have returning students who have turned into great friends. We are slowly building a community around our love of glass and metal!
What do you like best about working in Cleveland?
We absolutely adore the people of Cleveland! We also love the grittiness of Cleveland’s industrial past. We have a tough exterior with a fuzzy inside! Lol!
What makes Larchmere Fire Works unique?
Larchmere Fire Works is unique because we offer glass-blowing classes, glass fusing, and blacksmithing classes to the public. We strongly encourage getting your children to experience these crafts! We are a very hands-on business and love getting YOU involved with all the work.
What does Keep It Local Cleveland mean to you and your business?
We share with the public crafts that are normally done in a private studio and involved them in the process with classes and demonstrations. Glass-blowing, blacksmithing, and glass fusing are timeless art techniques that we won’t let become just a part of history. Larchmere Fire Works is open to the public as a hands-on studio. Our establishment is dedicated to the Larchmere community, adding to its growth of being a thriving art and antique district in Cleveland. We offer classes making them a fun experience for students and customers to engage in a time-honored art. We want people to return with friends and family and share their experiences and tell the community and world about this line of art. We aren’t just about making a sale, we want to create memories to last a lifetime. We teach anyone that no matter what level of skill you have, you can make a usable item. While adding education to the Larchmere community we don’t want to leave anyone out of learning a hands-on art. Our long-term goals as a growing business are to incorporate field trips for children from the inner city and surrounding suburbs. And who knows maybe our studio may be the inspiration to the next wave of young artists to emerge??
