Local Prosperity

Economists agree that communities that are strong supporters of local businesses are more likely to have more small businesses start up, thus growing a stronger local economy and creating a strong sense of community.

Create Better Jobs

Local businesses are the largest employers in the country. They also create better jobs for their employees. Small local business have a higher job satisfaction rating than large national employers.

Supporting Cleveland

Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than nationally owned businesses, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers and farms — continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community.

Keep Cleveland Unique

Local businesses are all individually unique and offer a large variety of goods and services that may not be offered by large chains. This helps increase the feeling of community and gives our community character. This also helps when people visit, and will give them a feeling of being somewhere, not just anywhere.

Support Community Groups

Local businesses average 25% more money towards local causes than larger businesses. The owners of these businesses are your neighbors and they will support what is important to our community.

Diversity in Products, Pricing and Service

Large businesses build a brand, then sell products they want you to buy to you with very little customer service. Local businesses are built on service and quality. They will go out of their way to make the customer happy and get you the product you need not the one they want to sell you. Studies have shown that local businesses can actually do a better job of bringing lower prices to the marketplace than large businesses.

Community Stability

Business owners who have opened up in a community are less likely to leave and more likely to invest in the future of the community.

There are many more reasons to shop locally but the theme is the same. Strong local businesses build strong communities. This is why our mission is vitally important.
