Spotlight: Cleveland Women's Journal
We have the amazing opportunity to speak with Barbara Daniel of the Cleveland Women’s Journal. We’d love for you to join us!
How did your business get its start?
Linda Lutz saw a similar magazine in Chicago & decided to start one in Cleveland. Shortly after, I bought into the magazine. Linda did a mockup of the first issue (February/March of 2004) and sold or gave away advertising to get the first issue released. The vision officially became real! We agreed that it is a magazine for women, by women, about women.
How long have you been in business?
Almost 15 years!
What do you like best about working in Cleveland?
I was born and raised here in Cleveland. I’ve always loved Cleveland and am very proud to call this my hometown. It is an exciting city with so many wonderful things to do and see. I love local business!
What do you like most about your job?
What I personally love most about my job is meeting new people and learning about their businesses – how they got started, what motivates them, their goals, and plans for the future.
What makes Cleveland Women's Journal so unique?
Cleveland Women’s Journal was the first magazine in our area that gave the opportunity to advertisers to write an educational article about their businesses. People pay more attention and learn more through stories. This has worked well for us ever since!
What does Keep It Local Cleveland mean to you and your business?
Keep It Local Cleveland has given us access to many businesses we wouldn’t even have known about! Many of the members wouldn’t be a good fit for our business, but that doesn’t matter – they have a product or a service that we are interested in or that someone we know might be.
Does your business have a stated mission statement?
Empowering Women Through Knowledge
