Spotlight: Heights Music Shop
Join us as we talk with Heights Music Shop about contributing to the vibrant community in Cleveland and being an available hub for arts and culture.
How did your business get its start?
Several years ago, another music store, Heights Guitar, closed. Since then, musicians in the area kept talking about how much they missed it. So, with that in mind, we opened Heights Music Shop to see if we could help ease the pain of losing Heights Guitar.
How long have you been in business?
Just over two years. We opened in November of 2015!
What do you like most about your job?
Meeting and getting to know the folks that visit us. Also love being a part of the music community through our open mics, picking circles and shop concerts.
What do you like best about working in Cleveland?
Cleveland is a great town – music, food, culture, sports, the lake, and of course, the Metro Parks. The diversity brought about by the hospitals and universities certainly contribute to making Cleveland a great place to live and work.
What makes Heights Music Shop unique?
Well, in our particular retail space, I think we have a very experienced staff that is dedicated to providing a high level of service. We think of the folks that patronize us as friends and a community rather than customers.
Do you offer any special services?
We sell string instruments (guitars, mandolins, etc.) and provide lessons and repair services. We buy equipment. We also provide opportunities for folks to perform: open mics and picking circles.
How did you come up with your business name?
good question. I guess it was the intent to be descriptive. Located in Cleveland heights and we’re making a music shop.
